A good lighting project can really make a difference in a house and its interior design.

The starting point of each good project are the sources of natural light.

These should not be overlooked when creating a lighting project as it is not just electrical light that can make a difference.

Main living areas and kitchens should, where possible, be south facing, as southfacing light is warm and bright all day long. West-facing light tends to provide sunlight at the hottest part of the day, so opt for rooms which you spend time in during the late afternoon/early evening to be west-oriented, as they will get a softer light at this time. Northfacing rooms often get a cold, rather harsh light, whilst those facing east will be bright first thing in the morning, followed by periods of almost no sun later in the day.

A successful lighting scheme takes into account each possible use of every room.

Ask yourself the following questions:

What will this space be used for? Consider all possible uses of each room. Will the kitchen double up as a dining or homework space? Will a spare room also be a study?
Will there be pieces of furniture, architectural features or artwork that you want to highlight in any of these rooms? This will determine your accent lighting.
At what time of day will the room be used the most?
Where does natural light enter the room and from what direction?

Una buona progettazione dell'illuminazione può definire e dar carattere al tuo progetto d'interni.

E' importante considerare la fonte di luce naturale che può avere un ruolo importante abbinata alle fonti di luce artificiale.

La zona giorno compresa di cucina dovrebbe, se possibile, essere esposta a Sud perchè la luce che arriva da sud si mantiene calda e luminosa per tutto il giorno. La luce che proviene da Ovest è invece molto forte nelle ore più calde della giornata e poi và calando dunque è meglio averla nelle stanze che vengono utilizzate nel tardo pomeriggio o la sera, dove si preferisce avere una luce più soft. Le stanze che si affacciano a Nord ricevono una luce più fredda mentre quelle che si affacciano a Est saranno più luminose al mattino e riceveranno poca luce durante il resto della giornata.

Un progetto d'illuminazione di successo considera anche l'uso di ogni singola stanza.

E' importante dunque farsi le seguente domande:

Come verrà utilizzato questo spazio?Considera tutti gli usi possibili di ogni stanza. La cucina sarà anche la sala da pranzo o cena o uno spazio per lavorare? La camera degli ospiti sarà anche uno studio o una sala lettura?
Ci sono dei dettagli architettonici, degli arredi o delle opere d'arte che voglio far risaltare?
A quale ora del giorno verrà maggiormente utilizzata la stanza?
Da dove entra la luce naturale nella stanza e da quale direzione?
